Pete Daumeyer was born in Columbus, Ohio on September 23, 1970. He is the youngest of six kids and his fondest childhood memories growing up include playing sports with his siblings. With 3 brothers and 2 sisters, his childhood home was loud, crazy, and full of love, but he wouldn’t have had it any other way. Contrary to most children who want to be astronauts, doctors, and firemen, when Pete was growing up, he didn’t have a desired career field. Instead, he hoped he would one day be lucky enough to be as successful as his parents, both professionally and personally.
Being from up north, much of his life was spent in a hockey rink. Whether it was playing, coaching, refereeing, and even eventually Zamboni driving, Pete felt at home on the ice. In his bachelor years, Pete lived in Nashville, Tennessee with his best friends. When asked about this chapter of his life he described it as “a very fun and exciting time where he learned a lot about himself. He spent much of his time in Nashville continuing to play and watch hockey and vowed to one day pass that same love of the sport onto his children.
On Labor Day weekend, 2002, Pete and his friends decided to go on a cruise that would forever change his life. The “Rock Boat” starring Sister Hazel and friends is where he met Bridget. She was confident, bossy, and successful and they immediately hit it off. The famous second words he ever said to her were “Will you marry me?”, to which she laughed and told him he was dumb. However, little did she know just two short years later, that joke would become reality. After dating long distance and traveling back and forth for months, in August 2003, Pete made the move to Tampa where Bridget lived. A year later they were married, and after another two years they had their first child, a daughter named Annika.
Pete shared that the accomplishment he is most proud of professionally came a few years ago when he earned the Pace Setter award for his company and got to accept the honor on stage in front of his closest friends and colleagues. When asked the same question regarding his personal life, he says he is most proud of his beautiful wife, daughter, son, and the life they have all built together. His favorite full circle moment from his childhood to adulthood is that he gets to share his love for the sport of hockey with his only daughter and take her to NHL games just as his dad used to do with him. He strives to always be the kind of dad his kids can talk to and lean on no matter what they are going through and hopes above all he is remembered as a kind and caring individual who had a big heart and helped those in need.
